How Do I Find My Most Profitable Trading Hours?

To find your most profitable trading hours, group your historical trades by hour of day and calculate net P&L, win rate, and profit factor for each time period. Most traders find their results vary dramatically by time of day.

Export your trade history, group trades into hourly buckets such as 9 to 10 AM, 10 to 11 AM, and so on, then calculate performance metrics for each bucket. You may discover that your morning trades are consistently profitable while your afternoon trades give most of it back.

Once you identify a pattern, investigate why before making rule changes. Maybe you trade a morning breakout strategy that does not work in quieter afternoon conditions, or maybe you take lower quality setups out of boredom later in the day.
